Our Story

The Cotton Store, and now Good Mats, evolved from our passion for natural home furnishing products.

Having moved on from our previous family businesses of design/manufacture of solid wooden furniture, Windsor Castle Furniture, and commercial interior consultancy, Toogood Design, we decided to follow our love of the natural honesty and character of hand-loomed Indian Cottons. We believed they should be readily available in cut length from stock in-store rather than only to order, so out of this came The Cotton Store and 30 years of unique home furnishing.

Our product range grew to include the natural hand-loomed floor rugs and mats, imported directly from India, which we now sell directly online across the country from our compact warehouse here in Wellington – having moved on from our full retail operation.
